USE & CARE

STAINLESS STEEL COOKWARE

  • HOW TO USE:
    • Properly preheat your pan. // Low-medium heat. 2-3 minutes.
    • Cover the cooking surface with oil. // When you add your food, it should sizzle evenly right away. (Pops and crackles = turn the heat down, champ.)
    • Don't mess with it. // Let it cook! The cooking process will help your food stay lifted from the stainless steel surface.
  • HOW TO CLEAN:
    • We handwash our Louis in hot soapy water. // If we want an extra gleaming clean, we use a powder steel cleaner (or baking soda!), make a paste, add to a rag, and scrub!
    • All Louis stainless steel is dishwasher safe, though. // No judgement.
    • Don't scratch Louis. Ouch. // Please don't bring steel wool or metallic scouring pads anywhere near your Louis, ok?
  • SOME MORE TIPS:
    • You can use whatever utensils you want. // Metal, wood, silicone, whatever.
    • Don't add salt into water before water boils or until food starts to cook. // We are serious about this. It leads to a pitting in the metal, which doesn't affect performance, but does affect appearance.
    • Don't overheat us! // Our cookware is GREAT. You should be able to do a lot with a low-medium heat. Overheating can discolor your pan and make it more of a struggle to cook your food.
    • Stainless steel Louis can cook food lots of places. // Grills and ovens, too, oh my!

NONSTICK COOKWARE

  • HOW TO USE:
    • Properly preheat your pan. // Low-medium heat. 2-3 minutes.
    • Cover the cooking surface with oil. // When you add your food, it should sizzle evenly right away. (Pops and crackles = turn the heat down, champ.)
    • Don't mess with it. // Let it cook! The cooking process will help your food stay lifted from the stainless steel surface.
  • HOW TO CLEAN:
    • We handwash our nonstick Louis in hot soapy water with a sponge or soft brush. // Do NOT put nonstick cookware in the dishwasher, as it will corrode the surface and shorten the lifespan of your product.
    • Don't scratch Louis. Ouch. // Please don't bring steel wool or metallic scouring pads anywhere near your Louis, ok?
  • SOME MORE TIPS:
    • No metal tools on nonstick surfaces, please. // Wood, silicone, or plastic would be best.
    • Don't overheat us! // Our cookware is GREAT. You should be able to do a lot with a low-medium heat. Overheating can discolor your pan and make it more of a struggle to cook your food. Overheating can also damage the nonstick surface.
    • Nonstick Louis does not want to see your grills. // Grills can get too hot, which can damage the surface of your nonstick cookware.

CUTLERY

  • HOW TO USE:
    • Cut on wood and plastic only.
  • HOW TO CLEAN:
    • We hand wash our Louis knives. // Do NOT put Louis knives in the dishwasher, as it will shorten the lifespan of your knives dramatically.
  • SOME MORE TIPS:
    • Sharpen at 12.5 degrees.
    • Oil the handles once a month! There are fancy wood oils you can buy. We use mineral oil. Our friends use canola and coconut oils, which is also cool. Make sure the handles are clean and dry, add a few drops of your food-grade oil of choice to the handle and rub it in with a cloth or paper towel Give it an hour or two to absorb. (Oiling the wooden handles will help prevent the handles from drying out!)

    • Do not cut anything still in the pan!
